Moxa is made from the dried leafy material of Chinese mugwort (Artemisia argyi or A.vulgaris). The application of moxa can be direct, where it is placed on the skin, or indirect, where it is held above the skin or placed on top of another substance like ginger or salt to enhance its therapeutic properties.
